Greetings. This page is perpetualy under construction. It was first launched in 2000 and was last
updated September of 2006.
It has become the home base for a concentrated effort to discover and prove the genealogy of Isaac and Sarah SCOGGIN and thier extended families.
Sarah had 18 children. When we started the search we could only be sure of 3 of
them. We now have names for 13 of their children and we will strive to identify them all. It is my hope that someone from each of those lines will then
take over the administration of that lines pages.
(no luck on that yet).
We will include areas to post census data, records, photos, and whatever we find useful in our search.
OUR DNA Study is Launched!!
A surname DNA study for not only
this line but all SCOGGIN/SCROGGINS/SCOGAN etc lines is on-line at Family Tree DNA. Anyone who joins the study by going through the group study can recieve a disount of about 30%. I have learned that there a few individuals who have tested under the name SCROGGINS and I am atempting to co-ordinate with them to gain discount prices for everyone and include the larger range of surname spellings and family groups as there is a good chance we are all related somehow.

Of course a primary effort
here will be to identify the parents of Isaac & Sarah and continue the genealogy. (there is recent indication that the parents of Issac may be one John Scoggin and wife Sarah Brown) Below is a "tree" With links (initialy in blue) to a page for each of the identified children and to a page devoted to Isaac and Sarah
themselves. Many of those pages have links to census or other data.

My earliest proven ancestor is one Isaac SCOGGIN b: abt 1780 in VA (we think) and his wife Sarah b: abt 1785 NC.
they had 18 children and amongst them was a
Stephen SCOGGIN (b.1816 TN) and his wife (m.1837, Hardeman Co. TN) Martha WELSH (b.1817 TN)
Stephen and Martha had amongst 9 children one George Washington SCOGGIN (b.1844 TN)
who married 4 times and 2nd (1875 AR) to Lucy McDOUGAL (b.1859 AR)
He had 6 children that we know of and amongst them is one
William Turner SCOGGIN (b.1876 AR) who married(1907, AR) Merle McCain ROGERS (b.1884 AR)
and had amongst three sons
Van Rogers SCOGGIN (b.1912 NM) who married (m. 1941 NM) Shirley Marie DECKER(b.1913 MO)
who had a daughter and a son James Patrick SCOGGIN (me)(b.1947 NM) and married (m. 1969 NM)
and they had three children the youngest of which is also a genealogist.
