Nancy Jane SCOGGIN & Asa JOHNSON

Nancy Jane SCOGGIN was the 17th (we think) and a confirmed child of Isaac and Sarah SCOGGIN. She was born 1 June, 1840 in Independence or Izard Co ARK. She died February 13th, 1830 in Ranger, Eastland Co. TX and is buried in the Bullock Cemetery in Stephens CO TX.

She married Three times. 1st to Asa JOHNSON on the 23ed of January 1856 in Coryell CO TX. 2nd to Dr. William R. JAMES 22 September 1867, and last to E.S. HOWE on 14 June 1885 also in Coryell CO TX.
Nancy and her family moved from ARK to Coryell CO TX along with her brother Jesse, sister Ellen Scoggin LEE and mother Sarah in 1854.

1860 in HH of Asa Johnson in Coryell CO TX
1880 as HH in Coryell CO TX
1910 in HH of Andrew J James (her son)in Erath CO TX.
1920 in HH of J. James (her son) in Coryell CO TX


Asa Johnson was the first Husband of Nancy and was born abt 1830 in TN, .He served in the Confederate Army and died during the Civil War in 1864 near Fort Smith ARK.

Nancy Jane is well established as a daughter of Isaac and Sarah SCOGGIN.

It is said that Dr. William James "returned to ARK" so perhaps he abandoned Nancy and children?
