Henry SCOGGIN & Mary PIERCE
Henry SCOGGIN was the 1st (we think) child of Isaac and Sarah
SCOGGIN. He was born abt. 1810 either in ILL as the 1850 census indicates or in TN . He died 1 Nov, 1859 in Cedar Grove, Kaufman Co. TX
Henry SCOGGIN married Mary Pierce 4 Feb. 1830 in Pope Co. Ill.
He enlisted at Vandalia, Ill and served in the Black Hawk War as attested to in the
widow's pension application. (applied for in TX )
Henry and Mary lived near Ft. Smith ARK are supposed to show in the
Crawford Co. ARK census of 1840. This needs to be varrified.
They moved to TX at sometime after the 1840 census and are in Kaufman Co. TX in 1850. Mary Lived in Lampassas Co.
TX. in 1880
when she applied for the pension mentioned above.
We should find Henry and Mary in the census:
1840 in Ft. Smith, Crawford Co. ARK.
1850 in Kaufman Co. TX
1860?
1870 ?
1880 in Lampassas Co. TX. We should find Mary widow of Henry.

NOTES:
Henry is not well established as a son of Isaac and Sarah SCOGGIN. The fact that his child naming pattern is not at all like those of the other known children of Sarah and Isaac makes it doubtful. However Sarah had a previous husband and he indeed may have had a previous wife who may have mothered Henry, and that could account of this.
The 1850 census shows the children of Henry and Mary.
